Being able to condense technical and complicated information in a way that is easily consumable and more importantly, enjoyable to read, is difficult, and in my experience, many people in tech don't have that ability.īut agreed. The other issue is, the art of public "speaking", or writing, is a skill that many people don't develop: if they did, Carl Sagan wouldn't have had a job. Either the SMM has to email everyone on the team to get write ups or prompts, and then interview the best blog candidates, and then write the article and have the developer read it (using up a little to moderate amount of several people's time), or the developer has to write it themselves (using a lot of their own time). Though I understand why they are rare: for a small team, it's a good chunk of time that's being spent not working on the game, and is hard to delegate to, say, a social media manager because they don't have the in-depth knowledge of development to really know what's going on.
